Sing with Rock My Soul for the 2024 Holiday Season
Rock My Soul, well-known for its inspiring, roots-based music and amazing harmonies, welcomes new singers for the 2024 holiday season throughout the month of September. In-person rehearsals take place every Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 pm at First Parish Federated Church in South Berwick, ME. The group will perform 3 holiday concerts this year.
According to choir director Dawn Boyer, both singers and the community at large highly anticipate Rock My Soul holiday concerts. “We are excited to get started,” she says. “In this area, it is rare to have the experience of singing holiday songs with a bluesy, R&B, soul, and even rockabilly flavor. Members find it to be a rich, uplifting, and rewarding experience, and our shows are a favorite in the area. We have a fantastic program planned for this year and can't wait to share it with everyone.”
How to join
Rock My Soul is based in South Berwick, Maine, and singers come from various communities in the area. For 20 years, the group has performed throughout New England at music festivals, prestigious music venues, and community events. Additionally, the group sings for those in need at hospice, nursing homes, rehab centers, mental health facilities, and other locations where singing and joining in on songs can make a profound difference in people’s lives.
According to Boyer, “Rock My Soul has become a vibrant community that has fun while working towards quality musical standards. We welcome anyone who can hold a pitch and sing what they hear. They don't have to read music, and we don't require formal auditions."
The critically acclaimed group has appeared on WMUR TV’s NH Chronicle, WSCH TV’s 207, and Maine Public Radio. One of its songs is included in the PBS documentary Freedom Songs: Music of the Civil Rights Movement.
